2018 Château Larruau Margaux Eta W/O 5-6-2024

$49.99
2018 Château Larruau Margaux Eta W/O 5-6-2024
Larruau is an incredible Bordeaux value located within walking distance from Rauzan Segla and sharing a border with vineyards from first-growth Chateau Margaux. This is very prime real estate, and while once the site of classified growth, it now offers one of the best values in Bordeaux. There are not many wines available from Margaux at this pricing, yet this is no slouch; it's a serious bottle of Bordeaux from a respectable terroir. We have been selling this wine for almost two decades, and we are happy to report that 2018 is among the best young examples we have tasted from this Chateau. The 2018 Bordeaux vintage has shaped up to be rather excellent, and though it was a riper year, which gives the wines some lovely upfront fruit, there is plenty of structure and concentration. However, let's remember the elegance that the Margaux appellation is noted for, which the Larruau beautifully shows. 2018 possesses lovely aromas of cassis, violets, graphite, game, and some baking spices. The palate is concentrated but so light on its feet, with lingering notes of cassis and spices that fan out on the finish like a peacock's tail. This is a stunning bottle for the Bordeaux lover with early accessibility but the stuffing to age for decades or two and is a magnificent, hidden gem of Magaux at this pricing. Simply put, Bravo!
