Vinous (Neal Martin) 92+ The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Champgains 1er Cru has a crisp, mineral-driven bouquet, taut and focused, demonstrating more complexity than the "Composition Parcellaire". The palate is well balanced with finely tuned acidity, nicely integrated oak and just a hint of chamomile toward the finish. This is a very promising Puligny that should age well in bottle. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London. (Drink between 2026 - 2040)
Burghound 90-93 pts! Pale colour and reticent nose, in a more austere white fruit. Apples. This is much tighter yet certainly with the necessary concentration, a little touch of liquorice, good acidity. Quite racy but there is underlying flesh waiting to come out. Rather austere at the moment, so I may be under-rating the Champgain.
