2019 Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur

$69.99
2019 Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis Grand Cru Valmur

Louis Moreau is part of this great lineage of Chablis winemakers and the famed Moreau family. These are classic Chablis wines that are built on mineral definition rather than trying for opulent fruit. It is one of the more traditional styles that has remained a constant in Chablis, and while others might look to experiment, Louis Moreau sticks to tradition.

2019 Valmur from Louis Moreau is excellent, and we have some ex-cellar bottles of this fantastic back vintage. The Valmur is one of the best vintage wines from Louis Moreau. It is sourced from old vines planted between 1966 and 1968 on Chablis' famed pure Kimmeridgian soil. This is a fine example of Valmur and one of the first vintages where no oak was used, which gives a little more energy and purity complementing the richness of this wine. It's one of the top buys of the vintage right now for Grand Cru Chablis, and we have low pricing on some of the only bottles available in the USA.

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 92 points! "Of the two Louis Moreau grands crus on offer, the Valmur appears to be the more classic of them. It is all about the white fruit with a steely backbone and good persistence."
