The Bichot Domaine, Long-Depaquit, has been very consistent over the last 20 years, producing praised wines with outstanding value. Here we see that same push for quality with one of their best vintages for this vineyard ever. We were able to get an incredible price on the Preuses today, which is considered one of the great grand crus of Chablis. A very small holding for Bichot, the domaine only has one small .25-hectare parcel of Les Preuses, making it one of their most limited Chablis holdings. This will be one of the last great vintages for a while because Bichot recently replanted their parcel to increase the planting density to 8,500 vines per hectare to get more concentrated grapes.
This hands down the best buy for Les Preuses in 2020 and is an exceptional example that is only going to improve with time in the bottle. This is on par with many of the best bottles of Preuses this vintage and comes highly recommend.
Burghound 93 points! "Discreet though certainly perceptible wood sets off the ripe aromas of citrus confit, spring flowers, iodine and shellfish. The mouthfeel of the medium weight plus flavors is nothing short of gorgeous as it's at once caressing but punchy on the sappy and strikingly long finish. This too would benefit from having better depth, but the density of material is such that more will almost certainly develop if allowed a few years first."
