2019 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino

$49.99
2019 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino

We have a bit of the Brunello Normale from Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona at this low pricing. Ciacci is a renowned Italian winery steeped in history and tradition, dating back to the 17th century. The 2019s here are on par with top years like 2016 and is one of the best vintages ever from this estate. Located in the picturesque region of Tuscany, the estate spans approximately 220 hectares, with 53 hectares dedicated to vineyards as one of Brunello's prominent figures. The winery is celebrated for its dedication to traditional winemaking techniques, primarily focusing on the Sangiovese grape, the hallmark of Brunello di Montalcino. Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona gained prominence in the wine world after the Ciacci family acquired it in the mid-20th century, and its status was further elevated after being taken over by Giuseppe Bianchini in the 1980s. Under his guidance, the winery has achieved international acclaim for producing high-quality, expressive wines that beautifully capture the essence of the region's unique terroir. Ciacci makes a few different Brunellos, but this is the standard and so good this vintage. Sourced from 100% Sangiovese grown at around 1,000 feet elevation, this is not a Brunello to miss this vintage, and at this low pricing, it's a no-brainer.

Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) 95 points! "There's no mistaking this wine for anything but Brunello. The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows beautiful continuity, crescendoing on the nose and palate in synchronicity. There are aromas of grilled watermelon, red cherry, garden herb and violet, and there is a charred note that recalls the toasted oak. The bouquet balances out beautifully, but you do get considerably more power on the palate thanks to the oomph of 15% alcohol and young tannins that get under your gums. Give this wine a few more years of bottle age. Production is 66,915 bottles in addition to 4,500 smaller formats."
