This is the best Bourgogne Rouge we have tasted from this classic estate. 2021 was a difficult vntage and ended up being a very small crop due the strict sorting at the winery. The result is truly fantastic and this wine drinks like a village Nuits St George. Lots of red fruits, a touch of game, liquid minerals, blood orange, and red flowers jump from the glass. The palate has lovely depth, really no hard edges, tannins, well-integrated loads of dry extract on the finish, and the ability to age three to five years. If you buy three, you get another 10% off. This was a close-out wine from the supplier, and we bought all we could: a great bottle of Bourgogne rouge that drinks well over its price point.
John Gilman 88 pts! The 2021 Bourgogne Rouge chez Michelot is lovely this year, offering up a black fruity nose of dark berries, black cherries, a fine base of soil, dark chocolate and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and has a good core of fruit, with lovely balance and a long finish perked up by just a bit of backend tannin. Good juice. (Drink between 2026 - 2035)
