2021 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir West Sonoma Coast

$79.99
2021 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir West Sonoma Coast
One of our favorite Domestic Pinot Noirs we have tasted this year, the 2021 Paul Hobbs West Sonoma Pinot Noir, is excellent, and we have a limited amount remaining in stock. A great buy for both new and old-world lovers, this is a new wine in the Paul Hobbs lineup, but it is already a worthy addition with this magnificent inaugural release as one of the top wines of the vintage for Sonoma. A great holiday wine and a beautiful example of the Sonoma Coast, this is not one to miss!

This is one of the best Pinot Noir from California I have tasted in the last year. 2021 is an excellent vintage for Sonoma Pinot Noir after the smoke-laden 2020 vintage. The fruit for this wine comes from the coolest vineyard sites Paul Hobbs sources from. The vines are all tended to sustainably, with about 17% whole cluster fruit used and about 1/3 new French oak, with the balance being two to three-year-old barrels. The result is a block-buster Pinot Noir with lovely fruit, incredible depth, and a whiplash of a finish that lingers on the palate for minutes. This is a world-class wine that will blow away new and old-world Pinot Noir lovers and is a tremendously impressive wine from Paul Hobbs.

Antonio Galloni 96 pts! "The 2021 Pinot Noir (West Sonoma Coast), a new wine in this range, is lights out. Rich, ample and bold, the 2021 races across palate with layers of purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and spice. A dollop of stems adds nuance, but without dominating the overall balance. There's terrific acidity and structure to play off the natural fruit richness that is such a distinctive attribute of the best sites in the appellation. (Drink between 2025 - 2033)"

James Suckling 95 pts! "Black-cherry, dried-strawberry, slate and sandstone aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, medium-chewy and bright at the end. The texture and intensity are beautiful and pure. Energy and depth. Drinkable now, but better in 2024."
