We have a nice late release of the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet AC from Michel Niellon today at this low pricing. Michel helms this ultra classic domaine and is a master winemaker with 50+ vintages completed. He is joined by his son-in-law and grandson, who will eventually take over the domaine. Farming is done as sustainably as possible with lutte raisonee practices, and in the Niellon signature style, they like to pick early to show off the freshness and acidity rather than a gourmand richness, preferring elegance over everything else and are usually the first to start harvesting in the village. These are wines are completely built on terroir and are some of the most pure and transparent examples of white Burgundy. The Chassagne AC comes from 10 different plots and it's possible for this cuvee to sometimes see some declassified fruit with the 2021 playing right into Niellon's hands as a more small crop classic vintage that is spot on Chassagne. We have a few cases available at this low pricing and it's a great buy in today's current market for white Burgundy!

Tasting note by Allen Meadows "Pretty, cool and airy aromas include those of essence of pear and apple that are trimmed in hints of petrol and wood. There is excellent intensity to the beautifully delineated middleweight flavors that are shaped by bright acidity on the balanced and lingering finale. This could use a few years of keeping to add depth and overall, this is a lovely Chassagne villages."
