The 2022 vintage of Jamet's Cote-Rotie wine is outstanding and is going to be a textbook example of Jamet Cote-Rotie. The Cote-Rotie from Jamet is one of the ultimate expressions for the region and truly captures the best of the vintage, and while single sites and Lieu-dits are ever-popular, they don't explain Cote-Rotie in detail as this cuvee does. Jamet sources the Syrah for this Cuvee from 20 different parcels, which are in 15 different locations and account for some of the best in Cote-Rotie, including Fongeant, Côte Blonde, Landonne, Côte Rozier, Plomb, Chavaroche, Moutonnes, Lésardes, Gerine, Truchet, Leyat, Bonnivières, Côte Bodin, Tartaras, Rochins. One would be lucky to have vines in just one of these vineyards, but Jamet has them all, which is a bit of the magic behind this cuvee. Jamet's style is very refined and polished, straying away from the overt rusticity that Cote-Rotie can have while showing an incredible sense of terroir. This is another outstanding vintage for Jamet, and we have a limited available.
Vinous (Nicholas Greinacher) 94-96 points! "I tasted six separately vinified and representative lieux-dit samples that will curate the final blend of the 2022 Côte-Rôtie. It is becoming a distinctively floral Jamet, leaning toward black rather than red fruits. Ferrous gradations and spicy elements will undoubtedly make their appearance in the final blend, adding even more complexity. Framed by ripe yet powdery tannins, the 2022 shows ample concentration and spot-on balance. Utterly seductive even at this young age, this is shaping up to be quite an alluring Côte-Rôtie."
