These bottles have just arrived in stock and we are able to offer them at our same low pricing! The Mousse Family has been growing grapes since 1750 in the Marne River Valley, and all of their vineyard locations remain on the same hillside with the same exposure but span the length of four villages, a rare occurrence in Champagne. Mousse Fils started making Champagne in 1923 and has perfected the art of Pinot Meunier Champagne, the primary grape used in all of their cuvees. Their work in the vineyards is extensive, with a wholly organic and biodynamic approach to vineyard management that sees more animals than machines, including a mobile chicken coop that they bring to their different vineyards as little vigneron helpers for pest and fertilization. Eugene Rose is a new cuvee that is replacing the older rose cuvees, but it is crafted virtually the same way. It features juice from two perpetual reserves started in 2003, one for the white juice (Meunier with no skins for color) and another for the red, which comes from a single plot of Pinot Meunier. The red wine is aged in older barrels that are at least eight years old for two years, giving the Rose a unique character and extraordinary complexity. The final assemblage of this release is 82% Pinot Meunier and 18% Pinot Noir. After aging for 18 months, it sees a dosage of 2.5 g/l (1.5 grams lower than the Effusion), putting it in the true extra brut territory and amplifying the transparency of fruit and terroir here. This Rose shows a beautiful and complex array of red fruit, citrus, spice, herbs, and floral perfume. Seeing 18 months on the lees, it still has a lovely freshness and energy. It is a sensational bottle from one of Champagne's top growers. We have special low pricing on some of the only bottles available right now, and it is highly recommended for the grower Champagne lovers.
