1971 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo

$129.99
1971 Marchesi di Barolo Barolo
We found a beautiful lot of Barolo from Marchesi di Barolo, a producer with whom we have lots of older vintage success in the past, and one of our client's favorite addresses for older Barolo. 1971 is considered the best vintage of the decade and one of the classics for Piedmonte during a period we refer to as the golden era of Barolo. The best wines to come out of Barolo were made during this time, and the 1971 Marchesi is no exception. It's a must-try, a wine that is in a perfect spot for drinking and for those who love older Barolo or even old-world wine with age. As we have said before, pricing on older Barolo is much more attractive than Burgundy or Bordeaux from an equally good vintage with age and are still some of the best old-world buys to this day. The 1971 has some nice recent notes on Cellartacker with an average score of 90.8, with many saying it is still full of life and showing very well, a testament to the wine and the vintage. It is always fun to get an older bottle that is ready to drink, and older Barolo like this is just as satisfying to drink as an aged Burgundy or Bordeaux and has more room to surprise you at a price like this. We have great pricing on some of the only bottles available in the USA, and these are coming directly from a cellar we trust in Piedmont.
