1975 Henry de Vaugency Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut

$299.99
1975 Henry de Vaugency Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut

We were able to get a small reload of this after selling out from our previous offer. A very rare Champagne find from Henry de Vaugency, these bottles from 1975 were just disgorged this year after 50 years on the lees! While it's not a producer we regularly offer, the 1970 we offered last year was exceptional, and many of our clients raved about how good it was. The 1975 will be even better thanks to an overall better vintage, and it is one of the oldest recently disgorged Champagnes on the market right now. Henry de Vaugency has been making Champagne since 1732 and is currently in its 8th generation of winemaking; a tradition passed down from father to son. Pascal Henry runs the show at this Oger-based domain, following the traditions of his ancestors, making only blanc de blancs Champagne with grand cru fruit while utilizing old machinery and techniques like a wooden basket press and riddling by hand in the chalk cellars. 100% Oger fruit, these bottles were also aged on cork, not cap, which is another traditional technique providing much more complexity and texture during aging process. This is perfect for those who love old Champagne, and being a new release takes away the gamble that many older wines come with, and this will be rather fresh considering the age. Champagne like this, which has been raging for over half a century and is in perfect condition coming directly from the cellars, would cost well over $1,000 from one of the big names in Champagne, making this an exceptional buy!
