One of the untapped sources for vintage Burgundy is the older wines from Ampeau, which are classic and age-worthy examples at very reasonable prices. We have the 1995 Santenots coming directly from the Domaine cellar in Meursault in perfect condition. Ampeau has an incredible backstock of vintages that haven't moved since bottled. From first-hand experience, it is one of the coldest cellars we have ever been in, making it an excellent environment for keeping wines for a very long time. While Ampeau has always been known as a white Burgundy producer, winemaker Michel Ampeau fashioned some beautiful red wines over the years that are elegant, classic, and show a wonderful typicity. We often talk about how white wine producers can make fantastic reds and tend to be very elegant, with this being a perfect example. Santenots has always been the Domaine's best buys for red Burgundy, and 1995 is an excellent structured vintage for this wine. This is one of the few '95 Santenots readily available on the market right now and is a wine that is open for business yet still drinks like it's about ten years younger than it is. We have low pricing on this rare find, and for those looking for classic red Burgundy with age or something ready to drink now without paying hundreds or even thousands of dollars, this is the wine.
