$199.99
2015 Hospices de Nuits Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers Cuvee Jacques Duret Elevage Meo Camuzet

This is one of the best hospice wines I have ever tasted, and it comes from the lovely, very showy 2015 vintage. This vineyard is located between Les St George and Les Foret, a prime premier cru location in the village of Nuits St George. Approachable now, this shows incredible aromas of black and blue fruits, tea leaves, Asian spices, dried leather, and a touch of liquid minerals. The palate is lush and dense, with lots of black and blue fruit flavors, lovely acidity, and tons of dry extract. The finish is like a waterfall and lingers for minutes, echoing the previous flavors. This is an incredible wine to enjoy now, and it will have no problem aging for another decade or more. The perfect wine for true Pinot Noir and red Burgundy lovers, this is not to miss, and we only have 24 bottles available.

Notes from the supplier that bought the barrel: The Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers is 100% owned by the Hospices de Nuits, the hospital and retirement home in Nuits Saint Georges. The hospices' employees, led by the cellar master, also farm. All of the proceeds go to support the Hospices.

The cuvée is harvested over several days and vinified per day, depending on the age of the vines. Three cuvées are made: one from young vineyards, one from half 25- —and 40-year-old vines, and one from only old vines. When I tasted before the auction, my choice was made on the cuvée 50/50 due to the balance and the fruit from a warm vintage.

Alcoholic fermentation and often ML are done at the Hospices under the cellar master and, more recently, in collaboration with Ludivine Griveau, the wine marker of Hospices de Beaune. We got the wine in April after the auction, and Meo Camuzet freres et soeurs finished the elevage for us. The wine was aged in new oak, each barrel being of 3 different coopers. It was racked in November/ December 2016 and bottled unfined and unfiltered in March.
