This is a great and traditional Rioja. It is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, and 5% Graciano from an average of thirty-year-old vines. The vineyards are farmed sustainably, and the grapes are destemmed before fermentation. After fermentation, the wine spends three years in Amercian oak and at least another two in the bottle before being released. Approachable now, this wine will age for another decade or more and represents another incredible value from Spain! 

James Suckling 92 pts!  The black earth, tree bark, leather and peppercorn spices render a restrained and traditional sensibility to the juicy cherry fruit. Tight and medium-bodied on the palate with a lengthy, delineated finish. Mushrooms and fine sweet spices at the end. Vegan. Drink or hold.
