2018 Tarlant Champagne Rose Saignée des Tempêtées

$109.99
2018 Tarlant Champagne Rose Saignée des Tempêtées

The 2018 Tarlant Rosé Saignée des Tempêtées is one of the most distinctive rosé Champagnes in the Tarlant cellar and a serious, vinous expression of Pinot Noir rather than a simple aperitif-style rosé. We just had this with sushi not long ago, and it was a fantastic pairing with Bluefin Tuna. This comes from a single La Tempêtée parcel in Œuilly, planted in 1981, made from 13 different selections of Pinot Noir on clay-limestone soils, and 2018 is only the second release of this cuvée after the inaugural 2015. The fruit was given 16 hours of skin maceration, then fermented spontaneously in Burgundy barrels and aged seven months on the lees before bottling, with no filtration or clarification. It then spent more than five years on the lees in the bottle, was disgorged in June 2024, and finished Brut Nature at 0 g/L dosage, with only around 3,700 bottles produced. The warm 2018 vintage gives the wine nice depth and generosity, with cherry, raspberry, blood orange, and pomegranate joined by florals, spice, and a savory mineral edge, but with plenty of freshness. Vinous awarded it 95 points, describing it as powerful, resonant, and very much a Champagne for the dinner table. This is a rare, characterful rosé from one of Champagne’s most individual growers, with enough structure and complexity to pair with food and plenty of life ahead.

Antonio Galloni 95 pts! The 2018 Brut Nature Rosé Saignée des Tempêtées is superb. Powerful and resonant in the glass, the 2018 is rich, heady and bursting at the seams. Cranberry, game, mint and crushed raspberry all take shape in this 100% Pinot Noir. This is a wine for the dinner table. I loved it. Disgorged: October 15, 2025. (Drink between 2025 - 2030)

Jed Dunnuck.com (Audrey Frick) 94 pts! A rosé de saignée, the 2018 Champagne Saignée Des Tempetées Brut Nature Rosé comes from the lieu-dit La Tempetées. It has notes of ripe cherry, kirsch, grapefruit, stony earth, mouthwatering fresh spice, cinnamon, and sweet pastry. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the senses but feels voluminous, expanding through the palate with a pillowy mousse and a chalky finish.<!--more-->Benoît Tarlant and his sister Mélanie are now the 12th generation to run this family estate.
