2020 Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Vieilles Vignes

$39.99
2020 Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Vieilles Vignes
The old vine selection of Vaillons from J&S Dauvissat is exceptional, and 2020 is a spectacular example of this Cuvee. This is one of the top wines from Sebastian Dauvissat, and we were able to source a few cases of this rare premier cru. Although Jean has passed away his son, Sebastien remains at the forefront of what his father laid out and has done exceptionally well with recent vintages. J&S Dauvissat makes excellent, classic Chablis that accounts for one of the most significant values of the region, and Vaillons Vieilles Vignes always stands out. The Vaillons VV, along with the Chablis Preuses, are the only wines made here that see barrel fermentation with about 25% new oak, which is the perfect amount for this cuvee. Sourced from a small parcel of Vaillons with vines dating back over 70+ years, the Vaillons VV has a remarkable concentration of fruit and minerality with incredible poise while showing excellent power and never losing sight of elegance. The quality of this wine is very impressive, especially considering the price point, and 2020 is one of the best here since the outstanding 2014 vintage.

Burghound 91-93 points! "Prominent aromas of mineral reduction flash additional notes of citrus, iodine and shellfish. There is fine power and concentration to the larger-scaled flavors that are blessed with plenty of sappy dry extract that also buffers the firm acid backbone shaping the more complex and slightly more persistent finale. Very fine development potential here as well."
