While the Domaine wines are the main attraction here, Gouges is working with some smaller growers to expand their portfolio, and Les Cailles is a great example of the Maison Branch of the estate. The Gouge wines have always been remarkable Nuits St. Georges wines, and the balance that winemaker Gregory Gouges shows between rusticity and refinement is top-notch. Like the domaine cuvees, these also have outstanding concentration and depth, with incredible structure. 2022 is a more elegant vintage for Gouges, and they have lovely complexity and mineral backbone that many burgundy drinkers look for and will do well in the cellar. This is another glimpse of why Gouges is one of the best in the village, and we have low pricing on the only bottles of this rare premier cru from Gouges in the US!
Burghound 90-92 points! "Here the wood treatment isn't as evident on the attractively spicy and ripe nose that also displays a herbal tea nuance. The texture of the medium weight flavors is even finer with a light bead of minerality adding a sense of lift to the moderately austere and classy finale. This does however need to add depth and if it can do so, it may well catch the Richemone.
