2016 Chapelle D' Alienor Bordeaux Superier (Chateau La Gaffeliere)

$14.99
2016 Chapelle D' Alienor Bordeaux Superier (Chateau La Gaffeliere)

We had a nice visit yesterday with the sales director of Chateau La Gaffeliere, Thomas Soubes, and were very impressed with the wines especially the Chapelle D’ Alienor.  This estate is about 15 kilometers from Chateau La Gaffeliere on the east side of the Gironde river. It’s a Bordeaux Superier and a blend of 80 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Franc. It’s made the same way as the La Gaffeliere wines and by the same team, just a different terroir, gets less new oak, and a shorter elevage. It’s a gorgeous bottle of Bordeaux with cassis, minerals, earth and a touch of spice. The wine has great lift and vibrancy at this price point and can be drunk now or cellared for a few years. As far as wine values go in the world you would be hard pressed to find a better red for the price. This wine is the ultimate cellar saver, party wine etc.

It also has a nice note below from Jeb Dunnuck.

Jeb Dunnuck 90 pts! A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc brought up all in concrete tank, the 2016 Château Chapelle D'Aliénor is a soft, front-end loaded, elegant wine with plenty of berry fruits, crushed flowers, and vanilla as well a hint of loamy earth and coffee. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years. (Drink between 2019-2027)
