2017 Château Tour Saint-Christophe

$29.99
2017 Château Tour Saint-Christophe
We've been able to source some fantastic Bordeaux Values recently, and we have another one that is working its way to the top of the list from Chateau Tour Saint-Christophe. Located in Saint Emilion, in the commune of Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, Chateau Tour Saint-Christophe has been a family-owned Chateau since the beginning. Nearly every vintage they have made in the past ten years has been an excellent buy for Right Bank Bordeaux. Their 9 hectares of vines, rooted for half a century in a terroir rich in clay and limestone, have been passed down from generation to generation consisting of mainly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc. Grapes are tended sustainably with leaf thinning, and green harvest is used to control the quality of the grapes. Only the best bunches make it to fermentation in concrete vats before aging in French oak for 12-18 months, with the final blend being 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc for the 2017 vintage. While not a vintage that succeeded across Bordeaux 2017 for Chateau Tour Saint-Christophe is exceptional and shows an appealing dynamic between classicism and power with its gorgeous helping of fruit and an unmistakable sense of terroir. With a few years in the bottles since release, it is showing remarkably well right now and should continue to develop for years to come, which is not something that can be said often about Bordeaux in this price range. The 2017 here is an incredible buy for Bordeaux that drinks way above the quality that its price would suggest and was Jeb Dunnucks #4 Wine of 2020. We have low pricing today on some of the only bottles available in the USA.

Jeb Dunnuck's 95 pts and #4 Wine of the Year! (2020) "From a picturesque vineyard on the east side of Saint-Emilion, not far from Chateau Barde-Haut the 2017 Chateau Tour Saint Christophe checks in as a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc that was brought up in a mix of new and used barrels. This inky purple-hued beauty boasts stunning notes of blue fruits, crushed rocks, violets, and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and with remarkable purity as well as finesse in its tannins, this is another remarkable wine from this estate, which has been turning out brilliant wines in every vintage now. Don't miss it. Tasted twice."

Antonio Galloni 93+ points! "The 2017 Tour Saint Christophe is a dense, richly constituted wine loaded with tremendous energy and pure power. It is also a bit shut down; so I would prefer to give it a few years in bottle to be at its best. Black fruit, chocolate, leather, licorice and spice build into the potent, virile finish. This is a wine with tremendous promise. (Drink between 2022 - 2032)"

James Suckling 93 points! "A spicy, fresh and intense red on the nose with chocolate. Medium to full body and very fine tannins that give a creamy texture. Juicy and long. A blend of 80% merlot and 20% cabernet franc. Want to drink it now, but better after 2022."
