We have been having been receiving a lot of interest in Alsatian wines recently, and we have a fantastic value today from Domanies Schlumberger. This is the first time we have ever offered anything from this address before, but we were able to get a bit of the Gewurztraminer at closeout pricing, at nearly half of the original release pricing, and we thought it would be an excellent way for our clients to experience these wines with little financial risk.
Domaines Schlumberger stands as a beacon of centuries-old winemaking heritage and excellence. With a storied history dating back to 1810, this renowned winery has consistently crafted exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Vosges Mountains. The estate's commitment to sustainable viticulture and innovative practices has garnered international acclaim, producing a diverse range of high-quality wines that artfully capture the essence of Alsace's distinct grape varietals. The Domaine has a few lines of wines, and the Princes Abbes is considered their second label featuring their classic cuvees and is named after the heads of the church that cultivated the vineyard of Guebwiller at the Southern end of Alsace for 1,000 years which is the source of the wines at Schlumberger.
Gewurztraminer is one of the most famous wines made in Alsace and is an aromatically profound wine that is derived from Traminer, which came over from Northern Italy in the 16th Century. This is one of the classics of Alsace and has beautiful intense aromatics with some exotic fruit, candied orange, grapefruit, pear, peach, mango, and passion fruit. With some air, the aromatics are amplified, revealing rose petals, spices, ginger, and curry. Fresh, exotic, and complex, this is very impressive for $15, and the domaine recommends pairing it with Asian food, curry, seafood, or soft cheeses. We have very low pricing on this fantastic Alsatian Value, and don't let the pricing fool you; this is still a great wine.
