Château de Sales is our best-selling Bordeaux deal of all time, and we have a bit more at this low pricing in stock. Located in the Pomerol appellation, it is recognized for its long history, dating back to the 17th century, making it one of the oldest Chateaus in the region. The estate spans over 90 hectares, with 47.6 hectares dedicated to vineyards, predominantly planted with Merlot (70%), followed by Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), reflecting the traditional Pomerol blend. Unlike many Bordeaux estates that focus on new oak and high extraction, Château de Sales emphasizes a more restrained winemaking style, aiming to produce wines that are approachable in their youth while still capable of aging gracefully. This approach, combined with its significant vineyard size, uniquely positions Château de Sales in Pomerol, offering a distinctive expression of the appellation's terroir at fair pricing. We have already sold 20 cases of this and have a few more left, so grab them while you can!
2013 is a lovely Pomerol from this old estate comprised of 71.5% Merlot, 13.5% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc gives the wine loverly aromatics, while the Cabernet Sauvignon gives it some excellent structure and a backbone that pairs effortlessly with the Merlot. This classic Pomerol puts many others to shame from this commune at several times more than the price. This is one of the best Bordeaux buys we have tasted in the new year and could age another decade or so. I can't think of a better buy for red wine in today's market, and these are our last bottles, so grab them while you can!
