The Champagnes here are incredible, and this is the best rose we have found this year. We just tasted some incredible new grower champagnes from Angelique Lacroix while in France a few weeks ago. The vineyards were bought in the 1950s by Angelique’s paternal grandmother. In 1972, her father, Claude, took over and established the Domaine, which had 8 hectares of vineyards. Angelique Lacroix lived most of her young adult years in Paris, working in the perfume industry with a keen sense of smell. Naturally artistic, she felt a calling to return to the family domain in A Montigny-Sous-Chatillon in the Marne Valley, where she returned in 2010, insisting that she would launch her own brand. Since then, she has worked very hard in the vineyards and converted the domain to organic viniculture. The results are spectacular, and the quality of the champagne she produces at the price is astonishing. She recently received the Vigneron of Independence label since she does most of the work by herself. She has agreed to work with Envoyer Fine Wines as her agent in the USA, so we are excited to offer her wines at wholesale pricing to our customers. We have three standout examples to introduce everyone to the range, and they are very exciting as top buys for the category.
Divine Angel Rose is 35% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Munier, 30% Pinot Noir, 5% vin rouge with a 6 gram dosage. This is a lovely, delicate rose with aromas of red fruits, currant, and cherry pith with some blood orange, soil notes, and red flowers. The pallet is incredible and delicate, with lovely red fruit notes, perfect harmony of components, lingering dry extract, and salinity. This is a lovely, elegant kind of rose with incredible value for the price and one of the very best we have had in this price range.
