We can’t say enough about the wines that are made at Walter Hansel. They are spot on examples of their ava’s at unbelievable prices. Walter Hansel has done very well for himself; he owns several car dealerships in Northern California, and a wonderful bistro. Wine for him is fun, and meant to be enjoyed, by all that is why he believes in making it affordable despite what his accountants say. His philosophy is so refreshing in a market were wines seem to be more expensive every new vintage. His 2017 Russian River Estate Chardonnay is flat out gorgeous, and gets our nod as the best Chardonnay buy of 2017. At this price it won’t last long, and it has a wonderful well deserving review from Antonio Galloni below. If you like Chardonnay this is a must buy!

Antonio Galloni 93 pts! The 2017 Chardonnay the Estate Vineyard is fabulous, and also one of the very finest values in California wine. In 2017, I am especially impressed by the wine's energy and tension, both of which are remarkable given the hot, dry conditions that marked so much of the year. Dried apricot, flowers and mint are all nicely delineated in this vibrant, super-expressive Chardonnay from Hansel. (Drink between 2020-2029)
