$119.99
2018 Bouchard Père et Fils Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières (Ex-Domaine)
We have an outstanding back vintage of Meursault Genevrieres from Bouchard that was just released from the domaine earlier this year. The Meursault Genevrieres has been one of our clients' favorites, with some spectacular recent vintages, and is a wine that is almost always an excellent white Burgundy buy from this domaine. The fruit here is all Domaine sourced and has been since the mid-2000s, with Bouchard owning 2.65 hectares of this prestigious cru. 2018 is an excellent vintage for this wine and is a contender for one of the best examples of the Genevrieres from Bouchard. It's a generous and powerful example but has fantastic balance with excellent acidity thanks to some earlier picking that keeps it light on its feet. Beautiful fruit and minerality throughout this is an example that has the structure for the cellar but is quite approachable now. We have friendly pricing here for this brilliant effort, which is an excellent buy for 2018 premier cru White Burgundy and recently Neil Martin re-tasted this and changed his score from 92-94 to 94 solid.

Vinous (Neil Martin) 94 points! "The 2018 Meursault Genevrières 1er Cru has a fresh and vibrant, well-defined bouquet, with touches of orange zest and hazelnut. The aromatics here are complex and quite alluring. The palate is well balanced with plenty of depth, quite spicy in the mouth with insistent grip. Plenty going on here, hints of grilled nuts and spices fan out with intent on the finish. Delicious now, but it will age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting. "

James Suckling 93 points! "A dense Meursault with sliced cooked apples and lemons. Some stone and minerals, too. It’s medium to full body. Creamy, almost chewy texture. Some juniper to the apple character. Drink and enjoy."

Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92 points! "More demonstrative out of the gates than the 2017 rendition, Bouchard's 2018 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is showing well from bottle, wafting from the glass with lovely aromas of ripe Anjou pears, citrus oil, fresh pastry and peaches. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and generous, it's charming and expressive, with an ample core of fruit, succulent acids and a nicely defined finish. This will drink well young."

Allen Meadows 92 points 'Outstanding'! "Hints of matchstick and exotic tea add breadth to the ripe, pure and pretty floral and poached pear-scented nose. The elegant middle weight flavors possess a lilting mouthfeel before concluding in a lightly stony, sleek, focused and persistent finish. This is particularly fine in the context of the vintage and it would be fair to describe this as classy."
