2018 Henri de Villamont Savigny-lés-Beaune Le Village

$39.99
2018 Henri de Villamont Savigny-lés-Beaune Le Village
Henri de Villamont falls into the same category as Charles Noellat, Cellier de Croix Blanche, and Pierre de Crillon. These are Negotiant winemakers that produce excellent values from esteemed vineyard sites. Even though some are not Domaine wines, they are some of the best buys in Burgundy, are made with integrity to the vineyard, and are more often than not ex-Domaine, which is the case here. Located in Savigny and designed initially to the vinify the wines from Chateau de Clos Vougeot, the building had multiple owners until it was purchased in 1964 and the name Henri de Villamont was born. We have worked with quite a few back vintages from Henri de Villamont in the past, which has been one of the mainstays of the address, but in recent years, some very impressive works have come from Henri de Villamont thanks in part to some technological advancements and the forward-thinking mind of winemaker Pierre Jhean. Today we have a very intriguing Cuvee that comes one of the few vineyards that the estate owns and is a monopole of Henri de Villamont. A rare white Cuvee from the Heart of Savigny, there are very few Chardonnay Cuvee's that come from Savigny Les Beaune, mostly known for its traditional Pinot Noir's. It is a beautifully aromatic and complex wine with an outstanding balance of power and freshness with notes of white flowers and orchard fruit. It's a unique and impressive Cuvee scoring high on Decanter's top 2018 White Burgundy list. We have the only bottles of the 2018 vintage in the USA, coming highly recommended for the White Burgundy drinker looking for something a little different while still getting a good bang for the buck. Don't miss this one!

Decanter Wine World Wine Award Gold 95 points! "A decadent complexity of yellow peach, smoky nuts and fragrant almonds with beautifully crafted oak, superb acidity and a long, powerful finish. Truly delicious."
