2020 Domaine Jean-Michel Gaunoux Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

The wines from Jean Michel Gaunoux are some of the best buys in Meursault, and today, we are offering the last bottles we have of the 2020 Meursault Perrieres. His Meursault Perrieres comes from a 1/2 acre parcel located mid-slope with vines planted in 1981 next to Clos de Perrieres. Jean Michel has been farming sustainably for years and has a classical approach to winemaking, using indigenous yeasts for fermentations and limited new oak. His top premier crus see only about 25% new oak and are always bottled unfined and unfiltered. 2020 is one of his best works and is a very compelling vintage for Jean Michel, with exceptional transparency and elegance coupled with tremendous underlying power and precision. This is the style that comes to mind when we imagine great white Burgundy, and we are thrilled to be able to offer the only bottles currently available in the USA right now. A nice note from Neil Martin: this gets our highest recommendation.

Vinous (Neil Martin) 94-96 points! "The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru comes from a single 0.58-hectare parcel just next to the Clos de Perrières. It has a precise and focused bouquet, crushed stone filtering through the citrus fruit, very vivacious though at the same time, understated. It knows that it doesn’t have to show off. The palate is beautifully poised with ample concentration, very fine acidity and neatly integrated oak. One of those samples where I could have happily not used the spittoon. This comes highly recommended."
