While a newer cuvee from Verset, The Signature Verset is the best wine made at this Cornas Domaine, with 2021 being the best example yet. Alain's daughter Emmanuelle took over in 2016 and began dialing in the Domaine, making a few key moves like raising the wines in some younger casks and providing a bit more of a feminine touch, resulting in more refinement and polish. In 2018, Emmanuelle decided to make a new cuvee to distinguish the domaine's top holdings, so the Signature Verset was created. Signature Verset is a selection of the best barrels from the Reynard vineyard, the same lieu-dits that Allemand sources from, which goes for hundreds of dollars. It's a fantastic buy for Cornas and rare cuvee, with only about 2,000 of the Signature made annually. Currently, we have low pricing on some of the only bottles available in the USA.

Decanter (Matt Walls) 95 pts! With its clove oak characters, this is a rich and opulent wine for the vintage, ripe and full-bodied. The tannins are driving and intense, with a rapier-like acidity that cuts through the centre. Classically shaped and textured, with the fruit and generosity to last. Whole-bunch fermented, matured in barriques and demi-muids of between three and eight previous uses. This cuvée is a selection of their best barrels. (Drink between 2027 - 2038)

Vinous 92 pts!  Ripe raspberry, black cherry, cedar, leafy gradations and licorice introduce the expressive 2021 Cornas Signature Verset. Medium- to full-bodied, concentrated and layered, the 2021 totally shines in this challenging vintage. Give it another two years in bottle for the ripe yet grippy tannins to mellow. (Drink between 2026 - 2035)
