2022 Gérard Seguin Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Craipillot Eta W/O 3-24-25

We have an excellent Gevrey 1er we just tasted yesterday from Gerard Seguin. Founded in 1850, Seguin isn't a widely known producer in the States, and only a few of their wines make it to the US. Today, Gerard's son Hippolyte and grandson Pierre run this estate and have expanded their holdings while improving the overall quality of the estate. Together, they are making great wines with Burgundian integrity: a sense of place, complexity, structure, elegance, power, and minerality. Its textbook Burgundy and Gerard was one of the first to graft his vines to American root stalks after the phylloxera crisis, with his original .5-hectare plot of vines being the Gevrey 1er Craipillot located right in front of their property in Gevery-Chambertin. Today, the vines are 90 years old and are located at the upper exit of the village, at the entrance to the Combe de Lavaux, at the foot of Clos Saint-Jacques. While Craipillot is one of the lesser known Crus of Gevery-Chambertin, it is still very Gevrey in Character with excellent purity of fruit, floral perfume, power, elegance, and complexity. 2022 is one of our favorite vintages we have tasted of the Craipillot, and it has a bit more fruit this year, which pairs well with the classic style of the domaine. This won't need a ton of time in the cellar, and in fact, it's showing very well right now. The 2022 Craipillot is a top buy for the catagory, and we have low pricing on a limited amount arriving in 2 weeks.
