One of the classics of Grower Champagne, it's actually surprising to us that we haven't offered Vilmart's Grand Cellier in quite some time. A personal and client favorite, this Cuvee has opened the door to Grower Champagne for countless people, and this disgorgement is another great example from this old champagne house in Rilly la Montagne. This is a great starting point, but we always end up circling back, and so do many of our clients. It can be an incredible bottle that drinks better than some 100-dollar Champagnes. A blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, based on the 2020 vintage, with reserve wine added from 2019 and 2018. The Vilmart Cellier sees a 10-month elevage in oak and is finished with a dosage of 8g/l. Always a Champagne of excellent cut and focus with crisp apple, pear, white flowers, and a touch of brioche, all wrapped in a cloak of mineral notes. This is the best value in the Vilmart cellar, and we are happy to be able to offer it at this special pre-arrival pricing.
Decanter 93 points! "Beautifully refined and delicate with clementine and pale strawberry enlivened by a touch of flintiness and creaminess and delivered with a delicate mousse. The Chardonnay lifts and elongates with fine zesty energy. Detailed, poised and classy, this is superb value. 10 months predominantly in large oak foudres."
