We just tasted the 2022 Jehan Emonin Bourgogne Côte d'Or Chardonnay, and it was a beautiful bottle of White Burgundy. This wine reflects centuries of Burgundian tradition, produced under the historic Jehan Emonin label of Domaine Vincent Bouzereau and made to honor Vincent's grandfather. Based in Meursault, the Bouzereau family has cultivated vines since the 16th century, with the domaine’s holdings spanning approximately 10 hectares across eight villages as one of the premier winemakers of the village. This Chardonnay comes from old Domaine Bouzereau vines aged 60 to 100 years, deeply rooted in limestone-rich soils that enhance minerality and structure. The 2022 vintage, marked by a warm, dry summer, delivered concentrated yet balanced fruit, harvested under optimal conditions in early September. Fermentation and aging occurred in oak barrels, with 15% new, to add depth while preserving purity. The result is a Chardonnay with bright acidity, richness, layered citrus and stone fruit, and a mineral-driven finish. With its impressive mid-palate weight, length, and balance, this wine is an outstanding buy at this level and the perfect everyday Bourgogne Blanc!
